Stationery Heaven FAQ

Q.  Is your stationery FREE?

A.  Yes, all of our stationery is free for you to use for personal use only.  It can not be sold or used for financial gain.  All we ask is that you give us credit for making the stationery.*smile*

Q.  Is it OK if I ad your link to my site?

A.  Yes, we would be very happy for you to add our link.  For text, button and bars to choose from, click here.

Q.  How come my stationery doesn't scroll and I don't hear any music?

A.  You are going through Format or apply stationery, you need to go to Message, New message using, Select stationery and browse to select your stationery and select OK.

Q.  All I see is red x's scrolling down the page?

A.  In order for the stationery to work right, the files have to be extracted to C :\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery and not in any sub folders.

Q.  I don't hear any music?

A.  If you are using O.E.4.72 or below you won't be able to hear the music.  In order to be able to hear the music you will need to upgrade to O.E.5 or higher.  To download O.E.5.5, click here.

Q. I hear sound sometimes but not all the time and I use OE5.5?

A.  Go to the control panel and select the midi icon to check the multimedia properties and then from  there go in and change the settings from SB-16 midi out [330] to Creative Music synth [220].  (Thank you Ralph)

Q.  Do I have to have the e-mail button in my stationery?

A.  No, you can either put your own e-mail address or web page in it by following the instructions here, or you can left click on it once and delete it.  It won't hurt the script.

Q.  I have been on your list for a while and really enjoy your stationery.
But since  Sept. 06 I haven't seen the pictures in the stationery. I only get the background and the music and empty space (no writing) where I think the picture should be. What could be the reason?
Did some of the settings on my computer change?

A.  The security settings. After I changed back from restricted zones to internet zones, everything worked fine ... yippee!  (thank you Conny)

Q.  What is the difference in the 3 formats you offer?

A.  Exe format is the easiest to download because it self extracts into your stationery folder

Zip format you need to have a program like winzip to download it and you have to extract it to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery

Eml is one of our favorites, because you can save it and use it anywhere.  Even rename it, but you will need winzip in order to download it from the web.

Q.  Can I send stationery to AOL users?

A.  Yes, if you use the eml format.  To find out more click here.

Q.  My eml icons are not working anymore and have changed to something else?

A.    I downloaded a different mail program called The Bat.  I didn't like it and uninstalled it.  Unfortunately, it had written into my registry as the default for opening .eml files.  I followed the below instructions, as regards the registry first, then, set the program to open with the correct path:  "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe"
Click Start, and click Run. Type regedit and click OK.  (Thank you LeAnne)

Find the following registry keys:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.eml

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\.eml

Highlight the .eml in the left window, click Edit and click Delete to delete
the two .eml entries.

Double-click the two attached files in this email to see the results. (Write us for the files) (Thank you Microsoft)

Q.  Is there a chance of me getting a virus downloading your exe files?

A.  No, all our stationery is 100% virus free!  There is no chance a virus could be hiding in the type of files we distribute, as they are simply a html, a mid (music) or wav (sounds or words), and a jpg or gif (picture) and are not capable of containing a virus.  We have 3 computers we test our stationery on, plus have testers.  Here are some anti-virus programs that we encourage you to use for a safer internet experience.

McAfee Clinic, Norton, and Housecall
